Beans with burnt notes — 54 specialty coffees that lean burnt. Discover the roasters and origins behind the taste.

Stark, dark and intense — ash, carbon and char marking the scorched far edge of the very darkest, most heavily developed roasts.
Burnt coffees sit at the far end of the roast spectrum: dry ash, scorched carbon and a bitter, charred finish. These notes come from very dark roasting, where development is pushed to the limit and roast flavour overtakes origin character. Bold and polarising, burnt notes give an intense, smoky bitterness that some drinkers love in strong espresso and traditional dark blends, especially cut with milk and sugar.
