Kenia Gatomboya
Roaster notes
Over 600 Kikuyu farmers in the Barichu Farmer's Cooperative grow their coffee at the foot of Mount Kenya near Nyeri, where land is so scarce that holdings are measured by trees rather than area. The nearby Gatomboya River—meaning "swampy area" in Kikuyu—gives this coffee its name and provides water for processing after harvest before the beans are dried. This washed Kenyan coffee delivers a bright, fruity cup with notes of rhubarb, dark cherry, and gooseberry.
