SL28 seeds were first germinated at Finca Malacara A in 2015, developing into full trees from which the next generation of seedstock was collected and planted on plot five—tablón cinco. Each year, the farm selects coffee fruit from the middle branch sections of particularly well-performing trees to create new seedlings that will eventually replace older, less productive plants. This shipment represents one such carefully selected lot from the farm's ongoing cultivation program.
