This coffee was produced by smallholder producers living in the Raro Boda kebele of the Uraga woreda in Ethiopia’s Guji zone. Ripe cherries were delivered by more than 700 producers to the washing station. Local farmers grow landrace and locally selected varieties. Cherries are manually harvested before being delivered to the washing station. This lot underwent traditional washed processing. This coffee was sourced from SNAP Specialty Coffee. SNAP was established in 2008 by Negusse Debela in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. The company operates three washing stations in the Gedeo zone, and are partnered with additional washing stations in Guji and West Arsi. We began our partnership with SNAP in 2022. As the coffee industry continues to grow in Ethiopia, the country’s historic growing areas don’t always match up with the current-day maps defining Ethiopia’s geography. Our goal is to provide the clearest and most accurate information about the coffees that we offer, and we’re proud to provide the most specific location information we have for these coffees. Learn more about Ethiopia’s coffee growing regions on our blog. Most residents of this region are Oromo and speak the Oromo language, which is entirely different from Ethiopia’s main language of Amharic. Like many of the country’s coffee growing regions, the culture of the Guji Zone varies from woreda to woreda and speaks to the diversity of people who cultivate coffee. More small washing stations are being built in Guji to respond to the demand for improvements in processing to fully capture the range of attributes found in Ethiopian coffee. Kenya national park about 6 km from the town of Karatina in Nyeri County. This washing station is owned by the coffee farmers who deliver cherries to the station. This wet mill is one of the three washing stations from the Gikanda farmers’ cooperative society counting 770 active members. One elected factory representative sit on the Gikanda FCS management committee and is involved in making major decisions for the factory and for the Gikanda society as a whole. Hand picked cherries are delivered to the wet mill where sorting is carried out on the same day prior to the pulping. Red ripe cherries are separated from under-ripes, over-ripes and foreign matter. Processing utilizes clean river water that is re-circulated before disposal into seepage pits. The water used at the station for fermenting and washing the coffee is drawn from the nearby Ragati river using gravity-fed channels and is re-circulated during processing for conservation purposes. After use it is moved into soak pits away from water sources so that it does not pollute the area.","Nyeri County Washing Station",[],[349,350],"sl34","ruiru 11","https://kaffibrugghusid.is/collections/all/keniu-kaffi-aa-top-gichataini-thvegid-1kg","2026-08-09T08:23:01.198306+00:00",[],[
[357
"1b3d9cc3-efa4-51ac-b390-9816d5b08447","d9a2813e-3b4e-4c9a-81ff-bfdc7d1801b8","keniu-kaffi-aa-top-gichataini-vegi-250g","Keníu Kaffi-AA TOP GICHATAINI-Þvegið-250g",[],[349,350],1261200,"https://kaffibrugghusid.is/collections/all/keniu-kaffi-aa-top-gichataini-thvegid-250g","2026-08-09T08:23:01.301639+00:00",[],[
[372
"bdfbbb3f-408d-55e9-844b-9f8ee6f7bd79","daf6b807-f339-4490-a294-77b311f7cae6","colombia-aponte-honey-process","Kólumbíu Aponte Honey Vinnsluaðferð","From the Inga community of Aponte in Nariño, Colombia, this coffee represents a transformation from conflict to cultivation at 2150 meters elevation. Farm info: Mr. Pablo Guerrero was the first to introduce coffee to the Tangua area outside of the city of Pasto in the year 2000. Hacienda El Obraje has been in Pablo’s family for many years and originally produced wheat and other grains. In the 1990’s, the Colombian government began importing grains, and cultivating wheat was no longer viable. Looking for an alternative, Pablo and his team experimented with fruit trees, including apples and peaches, for ten years, but challenges like bringing fresh fruit to market made fruit cultivation unsuccessful. When Pablo first began planting coffee in 2000, he grew traditional, conventional coffee and did not have a mill. By 2009, he had built a facility to process his own coffee and entered into the specialty coffee market. His experiments continued; he planted new varieties and processed Natural as well as Washed coffees. Planting coffee was initially risky because he was unsure how productive coffee would be at such a high elevation, but the coffee trees flourished and now others are following in his footsteps. The climate and terrain of Obraje are major contributing factors to its coffee’s unique cup profile. Temperatures vary greatly in a day, from 32 degrees Celsius at noon to 8 degrees or less at night. In the rainy season, the humidity is high and it is nearly impossible to dry coffee on raised beds. Initially, planting shade trees would have been disadvantageous given the humidity, as they would have trapped too much moisture and caused diseases, but the coffee has adapted to its conditions and Obraje now has low-density shade trees planted along with coffee trees. The drastic daily change in temperature impacts the density of the coffee beans and also causes trees to be smaller and more compact than trees of the same varieties in other regions of Colombia. Obraje often does not receive adequate rainfall and must irrigate select lots using water from the farm’s retention pond. Obraje is located near many volcanic mountains and the rocky soil is filled with minerals. Obraje maintains its own nursery to take care of coffee trees in their early stages. The team plants seeds directly into 2kg soil bags to let the seedlings grow before replanting them in the field. The farm applies mixed fertilizations: of 1kg-2kg of natural fertilizer and 300g of chemical fertilizer per tree. The hundred-hectare Hacienda El Obraje is a truly stunning property in the mountains of the Nariño department, with coffee planted on the slopes descending to a river valley. The transition from apple orchard to coffee estate began as a challenge, but has proven to be a rewarding venture. Pablo’s background in architecture leads him to approach coffee from both passionate and pragmatic angles, applying planting and processing strategies designed for long term farm health. El Obraje’s wet mill on the property is extremely tidy and includes tile fermentation tanks, depulping equipment, mechanical oven dryers, and raised drying beds under a solar dryer. Coffee processing begins as soon as the cherries are harvested. According to Pablo, “Experimenting with fermentation has been quite interesting. We have tried different times and temperatures, first with the cherries and after with the beans. I have learned many things. It’s important to have always the same quantity of coffee during the fermentation process, or at least give the coffee similar conditions of space and temperature.” Washed Processing All processing times vary according to the variables of climate at the time of harvest. Normally, cherries are fermented for 20 hours in cherry in the same bags pickers use. Cherries are selectively harvested for ripeness and also sorted by floatation. After depulping, coffee is dry fermented for another 24 hours and then fully washed, concluding with a second floatation sort. Washed coffee typically dries for an average of 16 days on raised beds or four days in the mechanical parchment combustion dryer, where it receives a hot air flow of 30 degrees Celsius. Read more about Hacienda El Obraje’s history and current practices. The History Hacienda El Obraje is located in Tangua, outside of Nariño’s main city of Pasto. Owner Pablo Guerrero, a Pasto native, began growing coffee in 2000. Orang Utan Coffee Project: With the Orang Utan Coffee Project, the founders aim at initiating a process, which incorporates sustainability into all areas of coffee industry. Hence, the project implements exemplary measures to promote the conservation of tropical rainforest and to stimulate similar initiatives. The rainforest, an ecosystem of unique biodiversity, represents an important basis for human existence. The high quality of the coffee and its organic cultivation represent powerful assets for successful marketing of coffees from plantation to end consumer. With the premiums generated, the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme SOCP is supported and the farmers are rewarded for their enormous efforts to comply with the strict organic production standards of Orang Utan Coffee, resulting in protection of the montane rainforest and its flora and fauna. The Orang Utan Coffee project is a green business that embodies the first concrete implementation of the vision of the Orang-Utan Regenwald GmbH. The Orang Utan Regenwald GmbH is committed to a holistic sustainable approach and thus to social and ecological responsibility, including resource and climate protection, as well as the preservation of biodiversity. Characteristics of our coffee: Gayo Highland Grade 1, Arabica, Giling Basah (wet-hulled), triple picked. The quality is ensured by local Q-graders following SCA standards. Since March 2020 we have been certified organic by Swiss bio.inspecta.rt. Wet hulling: is a traditional processing method exclusively used in Indonesia, probably in response to the climatic conditions. Indonesian wet hulled coffee can be identified by its dark, bluish-green colour caused by the high moisture content of the beans. This process creates an intense coffee with a distinctive profile. Wet hulled coffee has more earthy notes than washed coffees, which give it a strong and intense body. Additionally, the Orang Utan Coffee is rich in fruity and nutty flavours with a mild acidity. This combination creates a complex and well-balanced coffee.",[],[],"https://kaffibrugghusid.is/collections/all/sumatra-orang-utan-coffee-project-sukarame-thvottastod-berthurrkad-1kg","2026-08-08T13:13:01.077373+00:00",[],[668,759],"rainforest
[762,763,764,765,766,767
"t1_bright
"77f43a71-156e-5835-a6d7-9ade6a292a9a","6d7bef3d-3f3c-4276-b233-cfd1b30a66c5","sumatra-orang-utan-coffee-project-sukarame-vottasto-ber-urrka-250g","Súmatra-Orang Utan Coffee Project-Sukarame Þvottastöð-Berþurrkað-250g",[],[],"https://kaffibrugghusid.is/collections/all/sumatra-orang-utan-coffee-project-sukarame-thvottastod-250g-copy","2026-08-08T13:12:01.760222+00:00",[],[668,759
[782,783,784,785,786,787
