Roaster notes

A family-run estate located at Mareeba in the Atherton Tablelands of northern Queensland. In 2017, Skybury released its first harvest of shade-grown coffee—the virgin shade grown coffee is a first for Australia. The 100% Arabica trees were initially grown under papaya plants, giving young coffee protection during its first two to three years. As the largest grower of red papaya in Australia and a major coffee exporter, Skybury made economic and environmental sense by using papaya as overstory crop and coffee as understory. Founders Ian and Marion have strived to be leaders in sustainable agricultural management, practicing water conservation, renewable power, erosion control, integrated pest management, dual cropping, and employing local people.
