At Finca El Troje in Colombia, Juan Diego and María Elena have been trialling Cenicafé 1, a new cultivar from the Federation of Colombian Coffee Growers' research centre. While this varietal has shown promise across many regions, at their farm it proved less productive than their established Caturra and Castillo varieties, which they continue to cultivate for their compact growth and fine cup profile.
