Johann der Beständige is an espresso with a fascinating history. This exceptional Robusta from India's Malabar Coast owes its distinctive character to a historical accident: in the 19th century, Indian green coffee traveled by sailing ship for months to Europe. During the long voyage around Cape of Good Hope, the beans were exposed to humid sea air—and developed a unique, full-bodied aroma that is still imitated today with traditional methods.
